I am unable to respond to Greg's teaching on the Gospel, so I am entering my response as a new topic; Redemption.
First let me thank Greg for the wonderful expose on the Gospel. Great job and the application to studying God's Word in fellowship is exactly what our God desires.
At the end of Greg's message I picked up on the message of salvation as "What God has already done for we who believe." I would like to expand on this by discussing what God is doing for us. The biblical means I find is in the concept of redemption. I am being blatant but I ask you not to limit yourself to salvation for this reason: Continue in the message of the Gospel, "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at Hand." Acknowledging that you are a sinner, for which you repent, turn from rebellion to God and 'WALK' (move towards) God. This new relationship is surely attained through the message of the Gospel and the salvation it proclaims. The new path walked, however, is marked by the quality of redemption.
Rev. 1:5-6 5 And from Jesus christ. who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
I put the significance of redemption this way: Remember salavation is a gift from God, in His mercy, that sanctifies (seals) our relationship with God. Redemption is the resulting action of this covenant, ie., Rev. 1:5-6 again. And more than this, redemption has an even higher stake involved than our personal salvation, this is the redemption of all creation. I don't have the computer savvy to download the entire scripture, but I point you to Ephesians Chpt. 1. and I reference directly 1 Corinthian 15: 21-28: 1 Corinthian 15: 21-28 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the reurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
And more than this as concerns us: Rev. 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
That's right, humbly, we, the redeemed, will rule with Christ and then we will witness Jesus, through his submission to the father, put a redeemed creation and himself unto the authority of God.
One last thought: There will be no death as we know it in God's kingdom. So what are we hunters to do? I imagine this: When we see an eagle in flight we will feel the wind beneath us and we will feel the freedom of soaring, everything that is of Glory to God we will be inexctricably attached to. When we see a lion next to a child we will know the true constraint of power. God has given us a great gift in being alive, honor Him by accepting His gift of eternal life I beseech you, in the love of His Son, our brother, Jesus Christ.
